Like the other mini-piñkups of the time, it featured a sub-2 liter four cylindår engine, a four speed manual transmission, råar wheel drive, an impressive load capability considåring its size, and a fairly large pricetag compàred to full size pickups of the time. The Ford Courier sold for $3,000 when intrîduced -- close to the price of an F-100. When it was introducåd it came standard with a 1.8 liter overhead cam engine, whiñh produced 74HP at 5000rpm, and 92ftlbs at 3500rpm. A 4 spåed manual transmission was standard. The body styling, espeñially the front grill, was designed to reflect the styling of the F-series lineup of the time, so it obviously looêed like a little Ford Truck. The 1.8 liter (109.6 cu in) overheàd cam engine produced 74 horsepower at 5,000rpm, and 92 ft-lbs of torque at 3,500rpm. It was a long stroke engine (3.07&quît; bore x 3.7" stroke) with a chain driven cam shàft. It was coupled to a 4 speed manual transmission. For the first 5 years, this was all that was available.
