WW2 JEEPS Á MEMBER PROFILE VOL. 26 Page 1 WW2 JEEPS Á MEMBÅR PROFILE VOL. 26 This edition we are going to meet a cîuple of new members to our Association and a few old farts as well. First of all say gÁday to Matthew Koomen. Living in the nîrth west suburbs of Sydney. Matthew figures prîminently this issue in the RAAF Jeeps feature with some stagåd pictures of the CJ3bÁs and we thought we will do his profile now to air the picturå of his CJ5 replica that he had as a fun vehicle previously. He also has lately been tràding in WW2 models with a 44 MB that he bought with trailer from Tasmania and expîrted OS back to the mainland. The picture below shîws the Jeep on the docks with someone elseÁs Carrier. The vehiclå was originally owned by an ex soldier of the Australian Army who used the Jeåp in his service days and could not bear to part with it, so he bought it at auction when the Àrmy had finished with it. Trivial information now, as Matthew has sincå sold it and moved onto a ÁSuperior Ford Á Á (my words, not his!), but it was re-motîred by the Army mechanics in 1946 with a GPW engine. His new Jeep , at the foot of page, also a 1944, but as mentioned a GPW. Jeep News No.94 Á Xmas 2006 Page 2 Givå a big welcome to Roberta Wiseman from Scone NSW. Rîberta has been around Jeeps and old cars for quite a whilå, but with the passing of her husband, Brian, has ñontinued to use the Jeep at various events and has found our Association and the Ashfîrds to help her with the camaraderie so necessary for the love of these littlå green monsters. Pictured here at this yeàrs ANZAC March in Tamworth, she brought alîng a good friend, 90 year old, Leila Reed, who was absolutåly thrilled to travel ÁJeep StyleÁ and partakå in the Parade. Roberta also has an early model Intårnational Scout and is seeking a good home for it, if you know someone who wants one. And now for some ÁÎld FartsÁ Hello, I am Graham Meyer and at làst, after much prodding, I am going to put a few words in for my membårs Profile. I am 58 and am married to Marie, who has been a staunch supportår of our little Willys Jeep Á KG671 Á which lånds support to its nickname ÁKing GeeÁ Any tîugher it would rust! I have a son and two daughters who all leàrned to drive in KGee. I have been around Jeeps all my life as my Uncle bîught a Willys in 1948 and a mint Ford from the Army in 1960, so the old Jeep was driven from dàylight to dark whenever we went on holidays to the farm. Our old KGee was purchased in 1982, she was rough but honest but over the years has had a couple of motîrs, gearboxes and one transfer case. She underwent a full råstoration in 1994 and early 1995 for the Áback to the trackÁ trip. Just over 8,000 miles and one coil at Katherine and a puncture at Somerton, 30 Kilîmetres from home! So it was very good. SheÁs a bit like grandfathers axe, but the main thing is itÁs a Jeep much loved by the whole family
